Even a small amount of exercise will help to improve your overall health and well being. It is generally recommended that you do at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise at least 5 times a week. This means increasing the heart rate but not so much that you cannot talk during the exercise. The exercise doesn’t have to be taken all at the same time for example 10 minutes exercise 3 times a day will have the same effect.

Types of Exercise

Aerobic/Cardiovascular – This type of exercise increases the heart rate and burns off fat  Aerobic/Cardiovascular exercise can include brisk walking, swimming, jogging, tennis, badminton etc....

Resistance, strength building, weight bearing exercise – Taking this type of exercise will, help to build muscle, strengthen bones and improve stamina. It supports the loss of weight because increasing muscle will help to increase the amount of fat you burn.  Typical exercise would include water aerobics, climbing, using a fit ball, weight training.

Balance and stretching exercises - By enhancing physical stability and improving co-ordination balancing and stretching will help to lessen the risk of injury. By increasing your flexibility and stamina this exercise supports weight loss by allowing you to undertake physical exercise on a regular basis and reduces the chance of you’re injuring yourself in the process. Example include Yoga, Tai Chi
